Could Aubrey Organics NuStyle Hairspray Save the Gulf of Mexico from another Gusher?

Are you tired of those feminizing, highly estrogenized phthalates in your hair styling products? From basic hairspray to detanglers and smoothing serum, these products are a rich source of xenoestrogens, synthetically produced feminizing chemicals that are linked with all sorts of women’s reproductive health problems from breast cancer to uterine fibroids. The studies, for example, on synthetic parabens and acrylates like those found in fixatives in hair styling products, are so loud and clear with warnings about the chemicals in these products that we would be living in LA LA land if we did not heed them.

Xenoestrogens are not good for women’s (or men’s) health. People inside the beauty industry say it’s a cruel world. But how cruel is it? The formulas are petrochemical mixtures with oil extracted from all over the world including the deep waters of Gulf oil drilling and not only that they aren’t good for your body either. Yes, that’s right—every hair styling product you look at with few exceptions is pure petroleum from another potential Deep Water Horizon ready to blow. You basically are spraying oil distillates from the Gulf Coast on your hair everytime you style. Not good for the Gulf, not good for you. Ugh.
Well, now we can’t get rid of oil completely and nobody in their right mind thinks so, but let’s ask this: do we really need them in hair detangler? And do we have to spray a small gusher on our heads for a little hold?
Take Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions Anti-Breakage Detangler. This lovely formula’s ingredients include among others: Water, Amodimethicone, PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG 2 Methyl Ether, Polyquaternium 11, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 80, Aminomethyl Propanol, Citric Acid, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth 12, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether. The amodimethicone, PEG40, PPG 2 methyl ester, polyquaternium, DMDM hydantoin, fragrance, and polysorbate 80 are all petroleum byproducts that stand out immediately.  No doubt, a few others such as phthalates have sneaked in via the 300 to 600 or so ingredients used in a typical fragrance ingredient.
Equate Spray For Wet Or Dry Hair Hair Detangler contains: dimethicone, behentrimonium methosulfate, polysorbate 20, Cetearyl Alcohol, trisiloxane, ceteth-10, laureth-4, methylchloroisothiazolinone, and methylisothiazolinone—all petrochemicals.
Even the so-called natural products contain some of these ingredients, too. But if you don’t want to blow up the earth every time you spray on detangler then you should really just check out pure organic plant-based styling products.
Most exciting to arrive on the styling market is Aubrey Organics’ new line of completely organic hair styling formulas formulated with an amazing protein called quinoa, the gold stand of plant phytonutrients for your hair.
Natural Better than Petroleum
Nobody wants to see another Gulf gusher like what we have experienced now for many months. There is too much at stake.
But if you can do your hair well without blowing up the planet, it seems like a good deal to us Aubrey Organics offers a great deal. Their products are completely free of any petroleum by-products including artificial fragrances or eye and skin irritating quaternium compounds, and they work great. With a huge following throughout the globe and nearly half a century of leadership, Aubrey always seems to be first out there with best working and planet friendly natural and organic hair care formulas—so it just seems natural that once again they’re first out with a certified organic line of styling products. And, you know something? Just thinking about Aubrey and their home base in Tampa, Florida, it all makes a lot of sense. After all, their home is along the Gulf, and they must be extremely sensitive to what has happened. It just makes sense that their approach is one of the best for us and for them.
Why use petroleum when we all know hair loves protein? Pronounced “keenwa,” quinoa is one of the most complete plant proteins around. Mountain-grown in the purest of environments on Earth, its edible seeds have been consumed for six thousand years. Known as a natural fixative or “glue,” quinoa lightly coats the hair shaft, adding body, controlling fly away hair, providing a natural hold. Because it is nutrient rich, quinoa also strengthens and protects your hair with sulfur-rich highly absorbable forms of amino acids such as cystine and cysteine.
These form the main building blocks of hair and are elemental to health. Quinoa also smoothes brittle, damaged hair fibers, and reduces the frizzies (remember Protein 21?). Quinoa’s proteins penetrate the cuticles of your hair shafts to reattach split ends, and protect hair from blow dryers, straightener, and curling irons.
Aubrey’s NuStyle Organic Detangler & Shine Booster uses quinoa to reduce frizzing and boost shine, along with organic even primrose oil (Oenothera biennis), which is a rich source of hair friendly essential fatty acids, including gamma-linolenic acid. Organic aloe (Aloe barbadensis) restores moisture and softness.
NuStyle Organic Hairspray comes in both regular and soft hold with organic rice syrupd (oryza sativa) for extra volume and control.
Smoothing Serum is nutrient-rich to smoothe the hair’s cuticle to reducing frizzing and repair damaged. Use after or in-between shampoos to protect your hair from blow dryers and other heating products.
That’s the ultimate in organic and pure hair care. So, naturally, you will want to look formulas that are as pure, natural and organic as humanly possible.
